SAMPOERNA KAYOE DONATES BASIC COMMODITIES TO SMALLHOLDER RUBBER WOOD FARMERS
Jambi, (09/07) – As a form of support towards the government’s efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, PT. Sumber Graha Sejahtera or Sampoerna Kayoe partnered with Gabungan Kelompok Tani (Gapoktan) Sari Mulyo (Sari Mulyo Farmer Group) donated 120 packages of basic commodities. Donations were distributed to all members of Sari Mulyo Farmer Group, including administrators and logging operators, in Suka Damai Village, Rimbo Ulu Sub-District, Tebo District, Jambi Province, from the 7th-9th of July 2020.
The pandemic response effort was delivered directly by Dadang Hasyim Zainuddin, a representative from PT. SGS, accompanied by Rimba Yoga Subandi as Sari Mulyo Farmer’s head. The event was also attended by Mr. Tugiyanto as representative from Bintara Pembina Desa (Babinsa) Suka Damai and Mr. Edy S as Deputy Head of Suka Damai Village.
In addition to delivering basic commodities, PT. SGS and Sari Mulyo Farmer Group conducted further forest management training for group members. The training session drew from standards stipulated by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) with the aim to improve management of rubberwood plantations.
PT. SGS and Sari Mulyo Farmer Group formed a partnership in response to the former’s commitment to promote sustainable forest management. The partnership aims to raise awareness of environmental issues in the forestry industry and implement responsible practices based on FSC’s Small and Low Intensity Managed Forest (SLIMF) standards.
